[livejournal.com profile] bookclectic asked about:

[Biff]Biff: Saxon vocalist Biff Byford, who I apparently bear too close a resemblance to. This was a photo posted to uk.people.gothic (I think) asking if it was me. I cursed them their accuracy. I use this one for feeling old or ill, or for mettul \m/.

[Unix]Unix: The UNIX-HATERS Handbook, used for comments on how even the preferred shiny system of the present day is in fact shoddy rubbish as well. All software sucks and machines are in fact out to get you. My income depends on this.

[pwn3d]pwn3d: The brick lance, as depicted in the Codex Manesse, from the list of melee weapons that don't exist, but should. The pwnage may be of me or a third party, rarely the person I'm actually answering.

[kitaen!]kitaen!: Added when we got Neo and Madam, though I haven't used it a lot since — my tedious domestic minutiae tending more to Freda than the cats. Tawny Kitaen was chosen for this icon purely for the spelling of her name.

It's a shame it's not actually a clerical dogcollar Biff's wearing. I had kinda assumed it was until I looked more closely just now.

It took me ages before I realised it was a Native American warrior's neckpiece thing, before that I thought Biff had his shirt collar tucked into his jumper ;)

Worse: I thought it was him dressed as Lord Malfoy.

I honestly thought the Biff one -- I'd noticed the icon name -- was supposed to be you glaring at a mail client.

That list of melee weapons is quite good. I'm a little surprised that they didn't go through the Glaive, Guisarme, Volgue, Ranseur, Spetum, Billhook variations. You can have so much fun with polearms.
