I have a shiny new work laptop, an HP Compaq 6710b (GR684ET). It's about the size of a starship console with a 1280×800 wide screen, a gig of RAM and a Core 2 Duo twin processor. (No fluffy dice.) Kubuntu mostly works (SuSE 10 is certified) — doesn't come back from suspend, has had one inexplicable freezeup so far and I haven't tried the fingerprint reader. But boy is it fast. And shiny. Wifi just works, SD card reader just works and if I install kubuntu-restricted-extras DVDs just work. And thankfully the work partition is XP as opposed to Vista.
