You have no idea of the complexity of some companies' codebases' dependencies on mod_perl 1...

You know, it's possible I just might, considering I have to bother to do this.

(Clue: the real web server is Apache 2.2, which has been perfectly lovely. Except SSL, of course, which still felches goatse pigs. They then proxypass the 1.3 server to show up on the 2.2 server.)

apache 1.3 isnt really that bad. however once mod_perl touches it. it all goes horribly horribly worng.

some of the 2.2 defaults can be really quite annoying. altough in general i do prefer it.

When I finally switched everything to apache 2, I felt so much better.

What I have learned this passed week:

Apache 2.2 + PHP5 + mySQL 5.1.22 = luv

Admittedly, I'm not a coder, but from a hosting admin standpoint, I've never had a setup install and configure and work with eachother as smoothly and effortlessly as these guys have been.
