Polyamorous bisexuals, good Lord. I have dates for two and three weeks in the future. What? Anyone want me for this coming weekend, then? You know my email.

(My God I love my life. And a baby daughter. How's yours?)

I am now on a LiveJournal Basic Account. I've been cut back to a random selection of six icons, which appears to be the ones I've used most of late. And the ads on sponsored journals are REALLY FUCKING OBNOXIOUS. The LiveJournal terms of service expressly forbid recommending adblockers (XVI 17), so of course I won't do such a thing.

Hah -- a few months before some kind soul re-upped my account, I decided to try a Plus account. Since I'm running Firefox on a Mac, I never even SAW an ad! I was pretty pleased.

You also understand and agree that you will not obscure any advertisements from general view via HTML/CSS or any other means. By using the Service, you agree that...

17 # Employ tactics to prevent the full and complete display of advertisements on LiveJournal pages. These include, but are not limited to, making journal style changes, customizations, or overrides that effectively block or substantially impair the display of advertisements on a Plus account's Content or other pages within the Service.

Interesting. My reading is that #17 is mostly about the people with +Plus accounts doing things to block ads at their end.

Of course, I'm only dimly aware that there are ads on some LJs. Hell, these days I'm barely aware there are ads on Google.

Use Opera. Set the 'Lie about your browser to the server' setting to 'Internet Explorer' and play with the settings about blocked sites, cached images and so on.

In other news, I saw this and thought of You (http://www.warrenellis.com/?p=5477)*.

Because, wow, snarky remarks about people on benefits are so cutting-edge!

(Why is it his business how they dispose of what income they have? And has he never heard of selling communities? I certainly don't buy most of my clothes new.)

I think that it is fair to say that there is a certain dishonesty in spending welfare money on luxuries.

Per [livejournal.com profile] greylock, XVI 17 boils down to "we give you the ability to twiddle with your stylesheet. Don't fuck our ads up while you're there".

Of course, if you happened to be using a technological measure to avoid the oh-so-annoying ads, then you might as well bump up to a Plus account for the extra icons...

They may have a clause about messing with the html/css, don't they realize that most people that know how to do that will block the ads client side anyway, I know I have for a good few years now, I get quite annoyed with ads when I use other computers

Doesn't plus give us all ads though?

I still see those link ads despite being on a paid account..
