I read it as what middle-class blue-state Americans like, but there was enough overlap with my middle-class lefty Australian ways to make me feel like part of the target.

Funny how the huge numbers of working class poor white Republican voting Americans get ignored by pretty much everyone.

Yeah, sometimes I feel part of the target, but I think to really be the target you have to live like someone out of Friends or something.

I think the point is that all white people are the target. It's a parody of the view that all black (or Indian, or Chinese, or etc) people are the same.

White people aren't used to being all smushed together like this, so they take it personally and put a lot of effort into pointing out ways that they differ from the stereotype.
