reddragdiva: (nice cup of tea and a sit down)

We committed democracy this evening and saw a spectacular rainbow, a double bow with supernumary bows inside the primary. [livejournal.com profile] arkady got a photo:

[rainbow]

This week at work I've been Duty Engineer, which means parceling out tasks to others. Sorting monitoring emails does your head in. (It'll fatten the CV: "supervisory duties as required.") On call as of 6pm tomorrow, laptop power socket playing up after having been fixed on Tuesday. No BiFest for me. Arse. (Or, rather, not.)

I saw the same double rainbow while out for the same reason.

during my Final Project[1] examination for my degree my Supervisor suddenly looked out of the window and exclaimed "What an amazing rainbow", and I realized designing microprocessors for a living was not in my future.

[1]it being my own microprocessor, I loaded the microcode using one set of dip switches, and the program memory using another. In retrospect I should have blown the microcode/program into a couple of eproms instead.

Nice picture. You can see the darker Alexander's Band between the primary and secondary bows very clearly.

I seem to have quite a bit of luck capturing rainbows on camera; it's just a shame I didn't have my Ixus with me on this occasion.

The problem with that site is that the commenters are all lusers and many of the pictures are photoshopped. I don't consider it a fail if someone like Surfers Against Sewage are making a point by trying to surf in a hazmat suit.
