aalib (ASCII Art lib) has been around for so long that everybody forgot it existed! I used to play graphics demos and videos in ASCII using aalib last century :P

I took at look at the make test business, but couldn't work out what it wanted me to do.

From /home/fun, I download the source tree (about 30-60 minutes) and compile the whole thing the first time (about 60 minutes):

git clone git://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git wine
cd wine
./configure && make

This puts compiled source of Wine in /home/fun/wine.

I have downloaded "dotests" to /home/fun/download. The next step (you don't need the first four lines after you've done the above the first time, obviously):

cd /home/fun/wine
git fetch origin
git rebase origin
make
cp /home/fun/download/dotests programs/winetest/
cd programs/winetest/
sh dotests davidgerard-hp6710b-hardy

This will just run the test script (5-10 minutes of your laptop doing batshit weird things) and automatically upload the results to test.winehq.org.

Replace the "davidgerard-hp6710b-hardy with something identifying you and your test system. (Many people run this daily on multiple machines.)

The main Wine repository updates roughly daily. If git fetch origin; git rebase origin indicates no change, try again tomorrow ;-)

Oh! Don't forget to download and run hardy.sh as root, per Recommended Packages - this will install all the prerequisites you need to compile Wine with all the salad.

Oh how I miss the Model M I used to have many moons ago. This Apple USB keyboard just doesn't get close.

I'm typing into my MacBook Pro with a May 86 Model M (connected in via a ps2 to USB adapter.)

Of course, to make it functional, I had to map the CAPS LOCK key to be the Apple/Cmd key, which means I have no CAPS LOCK key.

But, the clicky goodness is worth making it more difficult to SHOUT.

I think for simplicity sake I'll stick with the Apple USB keyboard, although I got very used to my iBook's keyboard so it feels a bit odd. Sadly the KVM I've got doesn't like PS2->USB adapters.

CAPS LOCK isn't I find generally needed, theres Shift for that ;)

What I really want is a Microsoft Natural layout with Model M keys. The MS Natural is fantastic to type on, except the 6 being on the wrong side (I believe this is corrected in current versions).
