It's on-call week! And I'm actually working for a living: all go yesterday from 6am until midnight. Today was quiet until evening, and I'm still trying to work out what the arsing fuck is actually making things not work right — all systems look "100% perfect, boss!" except the minor detail of the actual output being utterly broken. Argh.

jagaroth swung through town on Tuesday and redcountess and I met him for a pint or several at Victoria. feanelwa popped over today to help amuse Freda, who looked most put-out at the clean floor until we gave her a cupcake to crumble across it.

My poor little disposable MP3 player has died. Bah. I could take a soldering iron to it or I could just buy a new one. What's the finest in cheap and cheerful MP3 players?

I am currently hitting Jamendo for CC-licensed music. Most of it's demo-quality indie or mediocre home-made techno. Some of the EBM isn't awful, some is. "Intelligent dance music" is neither.

I've got an unused solid state 2Gb mp3 player. Yours if you want it. Its menus are irksomely slow and it's got bloody crap chinese firmware.

Sounds like mine that just died. Does it claim to do "MP4" but actually do the stupendously awful AMV format? If so you can hack the firmware!! If you can't face that, it'd be lovely thank you :-)
