reddragdiva: (nice cup of tea and a sit down)

Lovely date last night with [livejournal.com profile] nyecamden. I fixed his wifi! (That's an example of "the truth and nothing but the truth, but not the whole unvarnished truth in all its technicolour glory.") I had a huge grin on my face all day at work. I appear to have a boyfriend. :-D This evening was his 331/3 birthday drinks at the Pembury. [livejournal.com profile] aster13 looked so fabulous.

The air around Nye's place in King's Cross tastes amazingly clean. It's the air that made me move to London — I visited in November 2001 and stayed in a hostel in Russell Square, and after three hours I decided I was moving here.

Now I'm home playing with an extremely boisterous and active Freda as she has Arkady read to her The Very Hungry Caterpillar: Random Access Version — she turns to the pages she wants in the order she feels like. Linearity is so passé. After months of Arkady taunting me with the idea, I finally got squirted with her breast milk when Freda grabbed her nipple just now and pulled. Oh, she's just tried again and squirted herself in the face. Clever pickle!

I am profoundly broke, but still think the fifth anniversary Bisexual Underground on Tuesday is an excellent idea. I think [livejournal.com profile] pndc should go too.

And after months of threats, Arkady has finally squirted me from her boob! I feel like a real father now. (She's sitting next to me reading me write this, and I'm still alive.)

In London - land of black snot?
Seriously?

That book never gets old.

And after months of threats, Arkady has finally squirted me from her boob!

I feel like I should attempt some quip like :"Well, you can take the target off now". But I can't think of anything worth saying.

Oh, I get it now. I forget that exists sometimes.
I was all about pollution.

The black snot mostly comes from going on the Tube.

Damn. Those tubes are nastier than I realised then. I still have gunk on my jacket from the Tube.

The black stuff is brake dust. Back when I worked on the Underground, first thing I always did at the end of my shift was to thoroughly blow my nose to get rid of all the black gunk.

Damn. I can't believe for years I have thought London's pollution was way, way worse than it is (or was, I assume the number of cars has reduced in London and that will have cleared the air somewhat).

The congestion charge has cut down traffic a little, and increasingly the bus fleet is being converted over to hydrogen - so the pollution is much reduced overall.

Even the water isn't as bad - you can catch trout in the Thames these days. Not sure you'd want to eat it, mind - but at least the Thames isn't complete death to all aquatic life any more.

The air around my place is good a lot of the time, apart from plane fluff season. I am not allergic to plane fluff, but it makes the air solid! Can't do the walking and breathing at the same time thing when there is plane fluff.

I appear to have a boyfriend. :-D
On reading this I managed to squee without my voice cracking, yay! *squee*

The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a fantastic book. I take it you have a robust version ;-) Alex loved that book, she called it platter.

BU: I can stand you a couple of drinks, especially if it is the cheap and delicious Old Brewery. There will be cake! (I'm going to bake some, any requests?)

It's the board book version, which Freda picked out herself at Waterstones a few months ago (well, we took it off the shelf to look at it and she wanted it) the board is coming off the spine though.

Should I still go to BU this evening?

I feel like I've got a few days' sleeping to catch up on first...
