I submit that the only reason we bother with the pyramid scheme known as the modern economy, rather than working two hours a week to stay more or less at the same level, is to pay for medical technology.

Thus: the purpose of civilisation is to reach the Fountain of Youth.

At which point the world becomes Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom. (Accelerando may be orthogonal.)

Discuss.

The scary part was checking out photos of a few years back, and I don't appear to have changed that much in that time.

I assume this changes pretty quickly once things start to get a run on, though.

A good yoga practice can do much more as a fountain of youth than the majority of medical technology.

It's also near free and wouldn't get in the way of working two hours a week.

The irony, of course, is that working more than two hours a week causes premature aging through all of the stress that goes with a full-time job.

I blame the puritans.

rather than working two hours a week

Isn't this what rich people do? It doesn't really take much time to say "it's my money, you can't have it".
