Today we unpacked more boxes (particularly books), set the teenager and her boyfriend to properly building her bed (I'm still hearing occasional clunks and yells from upstairs), bought a washing machine and set up Freda's computer. arkady finally assembled a small work bench that we bought in 2006 and never actually got around to unpacking until now. The washing machine is almost the same model as the one we had before (a Hotpoint of questionable provenance), but it's a return still under factory warranty for less than half the price. Here's to B-grade stock!

We have discovered the lemon in the house: the bath leaks. All over the floor and into the kitchen. There are, of course, unlimited possible lemons ...

Arkady also spotted some rats in the local pet shop. Pet shop rats are generally to be avoided, but Arkady just happens to be an expert and ascertained the proprietor's bona fides, and that these people are good and not evil. Freda also wants fish. So I expect the house to turn into an animal sanctuary in short order.

We are slowly decreasing the number of boxes and increasing the amount of floor space. I must particularly thank kake for randomly showing up one day last week to help clean the old dump. She did the teen's room and dealt with the unspeakable Lovecraftian horrors therein. It's official: girls are icky.
