If I ever whine about how bored I am at work again, just bring out the pounding cluebat sodomy. More tape jokebox shite, a pile of small tasks in moving the Oracle server, setting up a user account on the frigging Moon without documentation, working out which of shifting FlexLM or Legato off the everything server will be less reminiscent of a razorwire dildo, setting up the weekend backup tape set and, oh yes, I also have to spend at least an hour on the phone to the offsite tape storage place working out just what of ours they actually have.

Although yesterday I got the happiest news I've had at work in a while: they're actually planning to set up a separate backup server that won't have the DNS, NIS and license services on it. And after yesterday and today's jokebox fun, the process is being accelerated. w00t.

It would help if my brain had started this morning. Excessive caffeine and two Sudafed (~= Speed For The Crap) leaves Jack just as dull a boy. With added buzzing.

Considering Slimelight tomorrow - free before 11:30pm. [livejournal.com profile] ladylilith is off to Bath and Brizzle for the weekend and [livejournal.com profile] ali_anarres (she has indeed supped of the LJ Kool-Aid) is off to a housewarming in Manchester - anyone else Sliming?

You can in theory change the hostid on a Solaris box. Just make sure you don't get caught out by NyetWorker in that case -- the hostid and the MAC address are linked, so you can't have two boxes with the same hostid on the same network.

Hopefully none of the products you're using have been EOLed. If they have, then life could get really interesting.

Have fun!
