Does Belgian beer go with clams?

I saw ladylilith off to Whitby (where she and reaverbob are holding Whitby Gothic Weekend 9.6), then went into town to Xenu's secret lair to meet up with the other anti-Scientologists. Handed out leaflets from 1:30pm until just after two, realised it was bloody freezing and my fingers were turning into icicles, wandered down to Oxford Street for gloves, came back at 2:45pm and leafleted until 3:30pm. Leaflets were the Xenu leaflet and one titled The Thriving Cult of Greed and Power which I don't have a link for. Not much happened from my perspective (although I did have fun slowly leading the nice Scientologist lady handing out copies of Freedoom further and further up the street as she sought to out-leaflet me), though those closer to their shop said half a dozen Scientologist staffers had come out to play with the nine of us.

Left at 3:30pm to return to Xenu's secret lair for more drinks, eventually departing pished for the Dev to meet up with ali_anarres. Went in search of dinner and ended up at Belgo Noord, for more beer and some wonderful food. I had the Sausages and Mash in Belgian.

ladylilith had some trouble hooking up with reaverbob in Whitby - thank you to andymariachi, avalon_bliss and diffrentcolours for their assistance in a minor crisis. All is fine now.

I am off work for the next four days. I only just remembered that this was the case an hour or two ago. Perhaps I do indeed need a rest.

The engagement party is tentatively booked for Sunday 29th December, 2pm-7pm, at the Porterhouse in Covent Garden. Corporate area, ask for 'David and Liz's party'. More details later.

Is the Porterhouse all posh, loike? Will they let screaming hoardes of smelly goffs in? Will there, in fact, be screaming hoardes (or should that be whores?) of goffs, or is it going to be an invite thingy?

It's an Irish pub, but not a crappy Irish theme pub. Beer nerds will LOVE it. GODDAMN they do good beer, in about 1000 varieties.

very decent food and even better beer, also live music.

7 hours on a fucking bus + 1 stuck on the M1 ...my bum hates me! Thankyou for a lovely time, nothing to forgive, being stuck on the moors was punishment enough :-P

reddragdiva is not whinging when he talks about how cold it is down here, it *is* freezing - I guess that mild weather I brought with me from Australia is all used up :-/

Whereas you can tell I've been living here for far too long because I'm finding it cold. My first couple of years here this wouldn't have even registered as "winter" on my radar.

Having said that, I don't remember it ever being so dry and cold while I've been here. My skin's cracking and my hair is suffering from major static electricity and suddenly I'm less keen to move back to Canada.
