Back at work; it's much as I'd imagined. Various things haven't been fixed, my boss has made a well-meaning hash of the backups, the users are m0r0ns. (What to do to people who teach Sun users that Stop-A exists? Something creative, to be sure. The trouble ticket was filled out appropriately, and the user recharged with fear of God.) SNAFU so far.

I have a metric shitload of paperwork to arrange for ladylilith's visa. At least I have a printer here. And I have to get money to her. It looks like sending cash registered and insured is actually the least worst way.

Mostly not dead at the moment. PUMPED FULL OF DRUGS!!!1! Deathboy this evening, in spirit and almost in body. With camera. Feel free to bring me spare batteries - four AA cells, alkaline or NiMH please. (A girl can dream. I'm seriously tempted to rig up something involving a six-volt gel cell or similar. See no reason it wouldn't work, but given 4 AA cells are smaller what's the advantage over a spare set of AA as one set will already be in the flash. Another alternative, you Could go for 4 D cells NiMHs, if your charger already takes them, at very little extra cost.

Can't you go into your bank, fill out a form, and have the money move from your account to her account - as if by magic - in less than a week? That's what I do, and it's been pretty reliable. There's a bank charge for doing it - £6 or so last time I played this game.

Reliable, yes, but usually the methods with low charges simply have ridiculous exchange rates and vice versa.

Last time I did this the recipient was in Canada, but I forget what worked well. :-(

K. used to visit them with A Very Big Stick. It was kind of impressive, watching her storm off with the thing to do battle.

Not sure exactly what she did with the stick when she got there, but it was something people only did once...
