iGal is a Perl script that does almost what I want. Except for the minor matter of installing properly on anything that isn't Linux!

(There is apparently a port on the way for FreeBSD 4.7. Perhaps I can be bothered waiting.)

I could tweak the script myself, and/or learn Perl or even bloody shell properly. I know what I want better than iGal does anyway.

In other news, I am extremely blond once more. Cheers to [livejournal.com profile] ali_anarres. Pictures later. Must find a hair abuse shop in range that does 40 vol peroxide and powder bleach.

Very much looking forward to the weekend.

Sally's beauty supply in Soho does 40 vol and powder. Tis what we use :)

Ah, since we don't "all live in a house in golder's green" (to the tune of yellow submarine, my jewish friends taught me the revised lyrics ;) ) and since t conveniently works in soho, we've only ever been to the soho one. It's an american chain though so I've always gotten my bleaching kit from them...

Tis the essence of goth to insist on changing one's hair colour isn't it? When I first started my friends thought I was mad since I'm one of the few blessed with naturally jet-black hair (if I keep it from sun-fading).

[FX: Download. Fiddling.]

Oh, for heaven's sake...

Copy igal to /usr/local/bin, the manual file to /usr/local/man/man1 (wrong bloody place but never mind fucking CFI-weenix) and {README THANKS ChangeLog COPYING indextemplate.html slidetemplate.html tile.png igal.css} to /usr/local/lib/igal

Then piss with the ports tree/CPAN appropriately.

[NB: I've not done any of this because I'm not having this thing cluttering up my nice system. I've got PHP if I want an ugly lashup to regret installing... ]

you rely exclusively on do-it-yourself operating systems, you can hardly justify whingeing that there isn't prepackaged, non-DIY software to run on it. :p

the fact that I suspect you need a good sound tweaking, I doubt I'm the person to do it. :)

May I winge about software that claims portability, but depends on a library of database routines that will build cleanly on any system that's Dead Rat 8.0 or later?

Berkeley DB ought to be good enough for anyone.... *grump*
