Yes, there was a protest on every continent.

Tired. At work. Poor as a rather profligate church mouse of excessively good taste. I really, really shouldn't have bought those boots. Looking forward to a quiet birthday, a Pure dinner and a quiet weekend. Good thing there's almost nothing on - I will get some time to do some geeking ...

The camera is playing up - the twisty knob on the back is sticking badly. But if I send it back under warranty, I will be deprived of it for over ten seconds! What to do? (Anyone else with a Canon had this happen?)

(Buy a spare camera? BwAAAhahaha ...)

Attended [livejournal.com profile] nils' birthday dinner last night, at Cubana. Which is really pretty good. Particularly as they have a deal on until the end of February - starter and main for six quid with a printable voucher - very pleasing, considering mine would have been fourteen otherwise. (Had pollo frito al escabeche con sesamo y salsa [trans: "Chicken à la Old Boot" - required a chisel to get through, but tasted damn fine] and the steak, which comes with a wonderful spicy sauce.) They also do an excellent line in jugs of margarita. We recommend it.

Sat at the end table with [livejournal.com profile] ms_cc, [livejournal.com profile] teqkiller (and [livejournal.com profile] muftak who came along later), [livejournal.com profile] djpsyche, [livejournal.com profile] kristal222, Sam and Sam's bloke. I wasn't going to take pictures, but [livejournal.com profile] teqkiller got out her own shiny new photographic toy and so was a Bad Peer-Group Influence. Lots of chatting to [livejournal.com profile] kristal222 and nicking her luvverly fags. Lots of chat to [livejournal.com profile] nils and [livejournal.com profile] incy as well. [livejournal.com profile] incy got some nice shots. I even like the one of me (I'm the one in the middle).

The only downside of leaving the house was that it was minus two degrees yesterday evening. IF IT'S GOING TO BE THIS COLD, GIVE US THE BLOODY SNOW!!!

[livejournal.com profile] marnameow has declared, in her hyperenthusiastic crackbaby manner, that I shall be attending Dorkbot on Wednesday. Which looks pretty entertaining. She is tempting me with offers of br1thday beer and curry. And on Thursday, I take the recalcitrant CompactFlash over to her and [livejournal.com profile] sbp's for some fair-but-cruel BOFHly lovin'. We WILL have the Sushi. Oh yes.

([livejournal.com profile] damerell says the CF broke as I was taking a picture of [livejournal.com profile] dennyd because the camera was confused and traumatised when confronted with a non-female subject. Pah!)

Update: How does someone who is out of cash manage to go out five weeknights in a row? (I see blowjobs in alleys in my future. Fiddy pee! Anna cig!) Off to the Crosse Keys near Bank (map) with Ingvar this evening. Should be there 6:30 or 7ish. Text me if you're coming, or just show up. You should buy me a drink in honour of tomorrow too.

Just thought I should point out that Sam's bloke wasn't actually there...

I think she was there with Kristal (but not in that sense...)

I believe the person on her left was [livejournal.com profile] lproven, who's with [livejournal.com profile] kjersti, sitting opposite him. Heh, guess I should have listed all the names/lj tags afterall. :-)

dorkbot sounds interesting - is it just a series of talks?

Perhaps if you promise to take a lot MORE pics of females it will tempt it back into working? Obviously your female friends will have to pose for you a lot so that you can carry out this scheme, but I think it's the least they could do to help you out...

It's more that the US media is being disgusting at underreporting attendees and ignoring huge sections of the world. One massive snowstorm and they cancel all other programming, giving the peace protestors 30 seconds of coverage and the snow 3 hours...

I remember why I hate the US media :P (no I don't live here normally, I just managed to get this lovely weather for my holidays)

Minus two - that's practically Summer.

Minus 25 is cold.

(although I'm sure those from almost anywhere else in Canada would disagree).

There should be a number to call Canon and maybe it's something they could walk you through as a trouble shoot type thing. If that doesn't work then they may tell you to bring it to a certified shop meaning you'll still be without it, but maybe not for as long.

I didn't quite say that, though I can well believe it. I said that I thought your horrified expression was because of accidentally photographing a man.
