I just had to restart KDE, after only two weeks. I am extremely annoyed. (The panel - equivalent of the Windows taskbar - locked up and had to be killed, and I couldn't remember the name of the binary to restart it. Ran it with no panel for a few days and gave up.) This sort of unreliability is why open source software will never be accepted by the general user. Can you imagine Joe Sixpack putting up with that performance level?

Pure meet at the Liquid Lab last night was loads of fun and just what I would want in a birthday dinner. I had four pints of Hoegaarden, about half a glass of wine and a couple of glasses of pink champagne. (The last courtesy a freak 'Merkin banker who took a liking to [livejournal.com profile] mircea and [livejournal.com profile] sushidog. Sushi checked and found out the bottle cost fifty quid. He also offered [livejournal.com profile] mircea illicit banker drugs. Eep!) Took an entire CompactFlash card of photos - mostly flashless again. I shall have to secure more CF cards before Whitby. Attending were [livejournal.com profile] ali_anarres (quick note), [livejournal.com profile] swisstone, [livejournal.com profile] ladymoonray (report), [livejournal.com profile] zoo_music_girl (report), [livejournal.com profile] fluffydave, [livejournal.com profile] squiddity (live report), [livejournal.com profile] gothbabe, [livejournal.com profile] incy (report), [livejournal.com profile] jhaelan (report), [livejournal.com profile] mr_prickle (report), [livejournal.com profile] mircea (report) and [livejournal.com profile] sushidog (report), with [livejournal.com profile] childeric (appalling new icon) showing up later. I got a card as well, from [livejournal.com profile] incy.

Tonight is a quiet night in. I have no money and no desire to do anything in particular at all. Same for tomorrow. Geek time!

Aw.. would have bought you a drink, but had two small attachments this weekend, and couldn't have snuck them into the pub. Maybe next time? :)

Awful. Imagine if Windows boxes crashed that often. Actually, do you know that every time someone says "I don't believe in open source software" a linux box dies.

For future reference: 'kicker' ;)

Mind you, it's rarely the panel that crashes, rather some dodgy app crashing the panel.

Ack, geek mode started... :/
