Liz is having wild and crazy fun with her PC at the moment (took out the 60GB hard drive to bring with her, trying to set it up with the old 3GB hard drive for her brother and mother) and can't get it to work. International tech support was no help, because I have no hardware clue either. So expect to see her offline until London.

LIZ IS BACK ON SUNDAY!

Went to Dev last night with [livejournal.com profile] arkady as stated (and [livejournal.com profile] cyberpunkgrrl and [livejournal.com profile] statics_void), then we wandered along to [livejournal.com profile] ins0uciance's drinkies at Purple Turtle. Which she arrived late for. I was psychologically tested by Pepsi. Took lotsa pics with no flash, and they generally came out surprisingly well ... when people would BLOODY HOLD STILL!

rar for Sunday for you.

As for the PC - put old disk in, make boot disk. Swap drives, boot from boot disk (fiddle with BIOS if it does not auto detect drives)... this may or may not solve the issue, but it is worth a try.

At the risk of saying something that you have a lready done, have you checked all the cables are in fimrly (and not just the drive ones, it is possible something has come lose in putting the drive in and out). If when you say not beeping - does this mean no lights as well?

This'll sound stupid - make sure that the cable isn't in upside down, because that would cause the thing to die.

Make sure that it is primary or secondary as desired (assuming IDE here).

Do you need any of the original data off the 3gb drive? If not, once you're up and running re-format / partition it on that computer, otherwise you may have probs.

Lights were on, cables checked and rechecked, it was being a bugger! At some stage I'm going to relay to Mum exactly what to tell the computer repairperson so she doesn't get ripped off. I suspect there is another cable loose somewhere, but did not want to muck around with it. It won't be a problem if it is reformatted as I was going to give my family a fresh install of windows anyway (as they won't be needing Mozilla, etc.)

You'd best be bringing this paragon of wossname along in April - I trust she's around long enough.

Ah, I didn't realise this was the final flight... with any luck you won't have to spend 9 stinking hours in Manchester Airport like I did.

Actually I probably should have known that but wasn't paying attention.
