This week has consisted of cosy domesticity with ups and downs and being ill. Cough, hack, splutter. Pure meet at Liquid Lab last night was lots of fun, even if I was only about thirty to forty percent not dead. [livejournal.com profile] redcountess had a lovely time. This morning, with the assistance of the noble [livejournal.com profile] latexiron, his Range Rover and his BIG ORANGE STRAPS, the damned mattress was shifted from Hendon to Walthamstow. At last. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ewtikins for her tolerance of its presence these, er, months. If only we'd had the presence of mind to prepare a cloth dummy to place atop the mattress for the trip on the North Circular.

I have a l33t new Oyster Card. It goes "BLEEP!" when you swipe it across the big yellow button. And confuses the tourists.

I should post to LiveJournal more often. On the other hand, if you have nothing to say, then say nothing. In the meantime, I suspect I shall be spending the rest of the weekend in bed.

You can get one if you renew a monthly or annual travelcard over the internet.

I've emailed a query in, asking if I can get outside-the-zones validity. I suppose I could get a Zone 1 Annual though and just buy my National Rail season ticket to Euston...

Ta for posting the Nemi link ... saves getting blackened fingertips (how goth!) from the cheapo ink of METRO.

Tempted by Oyster Card, but going to have to find out how it would work with the fact that I travel by what is euphemistically referred to as National Rail (aka Notional Rail) for part of my commute - via a station without automated barriers.

Oyster cards

Hey ho, found your page and just wanted to mention, for your info, that this handy-dandy new Oyster Card actually keeps records of every journey you make (date, time, exit and entrance) for 8 years on a central databse, and at present there's no legislation covering the use of this data.

Whether you're cool with that is up to you, but may I ask a question - if someone said to you "Okay, I am going to track and record every journey you make on public transport and you have no say about what I do with the data - oh, and you won't have to queue so long" would you be okay with that?

Yet, someone comes along pushing the convenience angle and caution goes out the window.

Anyway, just my two bob, there's a link http://www.csoonline.com/talkback/100603.html

if you want to see more.

Best wishes,
Shanti
