Saturday night was Dead and Buried at the Korsan Bar in Hoxton. Very nice venue, though not easy to find. Pics here. The F20 was utterly defeated by the blackness of the post-punk and I had to resort to flash; clearly I need an F200EXR, with its frankly insane ISO 12800, as soon as is humanly feasible. A snip at under 200 quid now! Oh well.

Big news is that [personal profile] redcountess is extending her Melbourne visit, to fix up her mum's house, spend time with friends she hasn't seen in twenty years and generally blow off steam. Please give her calls and emails and take her to pubs and stuff. Her return requires me getting a job to pay for the ticket ... we'll call that an incentive!

Freda's speech continues developing. Today she said a sentence! "Plane gone away." The speech therapy should come through by the time she gets her first in English. She can also now catch a thrown ball! We do finally have a dental hospital appointment for her and won't have to wait until she's three.

The job sucking continues apace. Interviews this week, including one courtesy a lead from [livejournal.com profile] hirez, who has earned many a *pint*.

Jolly nice date on Monday afternoon and evening with [livejournal.com profile] nyecamden. We visited Fettered Pleasures, a business of unquestionable decency and wholesomeness. I didn't find anything that made me go "ooh" (though they do stock Magnum condoms, only place I've found in London that does), but I do deeply approve of their existence and consider that they make the world a better place.

I plan to go out this Saturday night, to Vagabonds. I am by definition poor at present. Who can spare me a pint? (big drunk puppy dog eyes)

I use windows because I fit into option 2. I also think there's another option, which I also fall into - those that really don't have the time or inclination to learn Linux because all they use the computer for is word processing, internet and storing photos they take of the cat, but sort of feel they ought to because they know Windows is so unstable but also because they are friends with/dating/married to/ know someone who does - and feel geekly inferior.

Because I'm aware of the risk though, I write everything down on a peice of paper - but don't actually write the word, just trigger words, in case my memory fails me.

If people are so thick as to put thier bank details and passwords in a word document (and probably name it "passwords and other details" rather than "list of things I want from Amazon" etc) what do they expect?

My friend renamed a file on her desktop from "naked photos" to "pictures from mum's birthday" and the computer repair man didn't even open it ;p
