I fetched arkady at Paddington and we returned to her house and then mine. redcountess and oscarhocklee were both unwell, so the latter and ruthi rescheduled dinner for Monday.

But Arkady and I got to have fun giving the rats antibiotics and cleaning their sore spots. Children may be larger than frightened rats and poo in greater quantity, but at least they don't have tails that whirl around and around to spray it everywhere.

We took the cat and the girl rat back to her place. The house is now catless. We shall have to do something about that.

The three of us presently plan to attend marnameow's New Year do in Bermondsey tomorrow evening, Liz's health permitting. (Last year it was mine stopping us.) Who else is coming? We also hope to meet up with illdrinn tomorrow afternoon.

Yesterday on Wikipedia I blocked twelve sock puppets ("+10 Scythe of Sockpuppet Slaughter!") of a user who then emailed me that he "was a productive editor who was hounded, harassed and selectively persecuted out of Wikipedia by a gang of aggressive POV-pushing Zionist thugs" and that I was part of a Jewish conspiracy. Does this mean I get the hot Israeli babes? Thankfully I've had enough accusations of hopeless Palestine bias, or I'd be worrying.

I could not of course comment or speculate, since as of Jan 1 I'm probably supposed to be arbitrating the case, at least in part. The sockpuppet massacre only happened after firm technical proof and the quote is word for word.

Yeah. I agree with him. There is a definite pro-Israel/pro-Jewish/Zionist POV prevalent in Wikipedia articles relating to such topics. It's very unfortunate, and unfortunately very hard to change.

That said, I don't agree with his tactics. At all. Personal attacks simply can't be tolerated. Though I was surprised somewhat to see you shooting for so long a ban.

Personal attacks drive other editors off; stroppy buggers get rid of other people entirely too easily. It was his use of the massive number of sock puppets deliberately, with malice aforethought, to do so that was the thing that really pissed me off.

And that said, there's a few sane editors on the pro-Zionist side who rein in the more strident of their brethren. I hope to encourage a situation where the editors in such a conflict separate out into the lucid and the nutters rather than side A and side B.

I have put forward the idea that we just block all IPs in the middle east from editing, but this has failed to achieve consensus as yet.
