Ukrainski Vistupi V Johna Peela!
Oct. 5th, 2002 11:20 pmTwenty years I've been following this alternative music malarkey[1]. And it was only today that I finally heard a John Peel show!
Needless to say, I'm a convert. And it was a religious experience.
Peel by RealAudio:
- Tuesday show: rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk/radio1/peel_tue.ra
- Wednesday show: rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk/radio1/peel_wed.ra
- Thursday show: rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk/radio1/peel_thu.ra
The above addresses contain that week's show for one week after broadcast. Streaming-only for copyright reasons, unfortunately. Pretty much broadband-only, though you can get a murky version at 11kbps through a modem if that's all you have.
Until the Ogg streams start again, you'll have to sully your system with RealSpam. Though it can almost be beaten into behaving itself if you do the custom install and also check preferences after it's installed.
So who failed to make this man Program Director on 6 Music?

Date: 2002-10-05 03:59 pm (UTC)It's hard to get across to the British just how damn legendary John Peel really is; how incalculaby important he has been to the propagation of musical culture. And, hearing three random shows, how clearly deserving he is of the legend.
Not that we didn't have highly corrupting radio shows in Australia. In the capital cities at least, there's plenty of material to turn the questing teenage brain to a life of depravity.
