Nice kitty. *hack* *wheeze* *splutter*
Dec. 2nd, 2002 12:02 pmI am hideously allergic to
marnameow's beautiful cats. I had an asthma attack bad enough to go to A&E in search of Ventolin. (In civilised countries, you can buy Ventolin over the counter. In the UK, Ventolin is apparently a terrorist weapon, and attempting to buy it without a prescription will give you an authentic British Jobsworth Experience, particularly when you're actually in the process of turning a fetching shade of blue in front of them.)
ladylilith has made me promise to give up smoking. So if I'm out and bum a cig off you, remember that it's a furtive one.
HEY
greap! I'LL QUIT IF YOU DO!
Life with
ladylilith is surprisingly wonderful. We're currently working out how to convince the Home Office to let her stay in the country. This will require interesting levels of commitment.
Update: My first journal entry to get enough comments to go into indexed view. Gosh!

Date: 2002-12-02 06:44 am (UTC)The Home Office still have the idea that if you get married here, it's obviously a scam to keep some illegal in the country, but if you get married abroad it's valid. I was told this by the staff at the British High Commission in Toronto! My total time dealing with the High Commission after the wedding to get the residence permit was 1/2 an hour, most of that involving the clerk photocopying my paperwork.

Date: 2002-12-02 07:27 am (UTC)Ideal option is to go for a holiday to Amsterdam (or somewhere nearby, weddings in italy are cool too) taking every bit of paperwork known to man, organize and have the wedding on holiday after consulting the british consulate in whatever country, then come back with her on your visa. Easy as pie... ish... :)

Date: 2002-12-02 12:29 pm (UTC)I'd be glad to help, even if you're not sure what you're asking. I get plenty of questions where the people have absolutely no clue what the hell they're doing. ;>
Couple of questions in advance, just so I can do any research necessary to advise you properly. Is it the UK Ancestry visa or Right of Abode visa that you have? If the latter, what is it actually called since I can't find it on the IND website? Do you know for sure if you need to apply for ILR (permanent residency) in {x} amount of time or if you have it now?

Or you can come to London next week and we can discuss it at length ;-)
I'll let you know about that as soon as I know exactly what it is I'm doing. :>
