We chased the users out of the building by about four, and both myself and the NT guy pissed off around 4:30. This evening I constructed the television stand that arrived on Friday. I now know in my heart why the nightmares of British handymen are haunted by flatpacks.

I r s0 l33t. I just got my first story on Slashdot. In a stunning demonstration of conservation of effort, I had actually found it on Boing Boing by syndicated feed to my LiveJournal friends list, and noticed it just now on the Slashdot feed to the friends list. Is there anything LJ can't do?

Not presently, but it shouldn't be at all to make something to feed journal entries and comments to a news server. LJ has two target audiences in mind: (a) people who can barely work a computer; (b) geeks who want to play with it. To encourage the latter, the source is open and the interfaces are accessible, which is where all those damn client programs for the former to use come from.

In theory, yes, but none of the people who do LJ hacking seem interested in writing anything but posting clients, the one thing the Web interface handles perfectly adequately...

What I mean is that it shouldn't be too hard for a person interested in such to do so.

Turning posts and comments into news articles should be easy. A gateway the other way might be harder to do sensibly.

[I find it slightly remarkable that none of the people out there who've already written foo->news gateways have done it, though. I'd offer them some money but I don't have any.]
