I must get photos up quicker, so that my ridiculously vain subjects will not lynch me via LJ and IRC. The current system (load into Gimp, crop, tweak colours, put up) has proven entirely too labour-intensive to be workable long-term. And I can take pictures SO MUCH FASTER with the new toy. Perhaps I should take them more carefully at the time. But that's no fun. This is Unix, I should be able to automate this.

(It does help that no-one seems to give a hoot about shiny index pages just so long as their pic looks good. And it is fun seemingly having become icon merchant to the world.)

Update: Why on earth is this post popular enough to score fifty-plus comments?

B-Movie, yup, should be.

March, yup. Meeting various CamGoths and possibly other friends at the National Gallery at midday.

I remain undecided about B Movie versus Dead and Buried.

I'm meeting Kate and Tony at Waterloo but that's not very handy for you north of the river types. I think Moomin and Lyssa and others are meeting outside the National Gallery and we were going to try to meet up with them along the route.

War: Many goffs are going. And me. Not sure where from, yet. Need to find some way of being able to protest and at the same time not have to be thrown into a crowd of Socialist Worker types and pikeys with dogs on string.

gimp: you can call gimp functions on the command-line IIRC. So a little shell script should work. Failing that, Photoshop has a macro-recording/scripting thingamebob, which is excellent. Failing that, use IDS, which does dynamic image resizing online. (but you'll need cgi-bin access) Failing that, pay someone to do it for you. :-)

B-Movie. Everyone says it is good. But I don't like clubs. Depends how drunk I feel.

LoTR: Over-rated. Especially the second film. But then, I don't reckon that the book's much cop either.

Yes. Too much exposure to S-W lunies at young age now makes me allergic to the sight of them and causes Prolonged Rants. I do not know if I am going. So far I have no plans.

I [heart] Gollum ... the Two Towers is grebt.

Interesting that you've assumed that the rant [livejournal.com profile] reddragdiva is linking to is about the movie, not the book... won't be long before people forget there ever was a book!

goddamn pop culture of the youth of today... when I were a lass... *mutters*

I just read [livejournal.com profile] steer's rant and loved it. I can't believe that I read the thread and left two comments amid all those academics though (/me tugs forelock)

Damn! too many years of Slashdot reading meant that I felt obliged not to read the article! ;-)

Although given the zeigeist, it wasn't an unfair assumption!

(Having now read the article, I kind of agree, apart from the bits about All About Eve and Jethro Tull, but that's because I'm a closet folkie. ) ;-)

It's tempting. But I've heard a rumour that there may be some goths there.

I was once asked to join the SWP. The conversation went like this:

Scruffy oik: "Would you like to join the Socialist Worker Party?"
Me: "I'm a self-confessed bourgeois slacker. Why on earth would I want to join the SWP? Go away, you troublesome little man."

Oh - one more thing.

Is it just me, or would Gollum have been more convincing if he wasn't a cgi-beastie, but had been played by Steve Buscemi instead?
