Clovey goodness has landed, courtesy the splendiferous (and most 'l33t) [livejournal.com profile] shekhmet! 23 quid for cigs, forty quid Customs charges. Ouch.

Technomentalist pints last night. Good. Me, [livejournal.com profile] marnameow (report), [livejournal.com profile] mr_tom (report), [livejournal.com profile] mouseboks, [livejournal.com profile] mr_flay, [livejournal.com profile] atommickbrane (report), [livejournal.com profile] kitty_goth, [livejournal.com profile] catsgomiaow, [livejournal.com profile] hatter, [livejournal.com profile] bfo (report), [livejournal.com profile] ali_anarres, [livejournal.com profile] wintrmute (report), Daish and Lucy (or was it Lisa?). The George Inn is nice but too small inside and too briskly spring outside. Second pub (whatever the hell it was called) has good beer but no food unless you're inordinately fond of lard. Nicked off to Pizza Express at one stage. [livejournal.com profile] kitty_goth kept getting calls from work while we pointed and went <nelson>HA-ha!</nelson> [livejournal.com profile] wintrmute, Daish and I were Australian at people. Found 'mentalist' used to describe the Raelians in this fortnight's Private Eye.

Pics of Ali and her poi in London Bridge tube, Northern line northbound platform. Flashless, but came out surprisingly well. Tube mice, you're in my sights!

My birthday present from [livejournal.com profile] redcountess finally arrived yesterday! Kingdom Of Fear by Hunter S. Thompson. Nixonian thugs are back in the White House, and the Doctor is on.

[livejournal.com profile] redcountess just worked out a household budget for us. The one she has shows us having a grand total of seventy pounds per month for casual and entertainment expenses. Between us. Eeek!

I have no idea what on earth is up with rocknerd.org. I've emailed Ben, but haven't had a reply yet.

Tonight: off to [livejournal.com profile] marnameow and [livejournal.com profile] sbp's to see about CompactFlash recovery. Update: Here's hoping it's not actually a defective CF card. Sean has extracted the first 90 megabytes, and will be trawling through that for JPEG headers. Fingers crossed.

Rocknerd update: Well, fuck! If anyone in Melbourne reading this is in phone contact with Ben, get him to email me on fun[AT]velvet.net and I will arrange for the hosting to be paid for. I've emailed the hosting company webmaster as well ...

Rocknerd update 2: Now in touch with the webmaster and negotiating the return. Rocknerd was a year behind in hosting fees - Aus$786.50. Eegh ... time to set up a suitable donations begging box, I suspect. TIMING!

Any chance I could buy a packet of cloves off of you?

No, though I LOVE the smell of cloves.

It's for my boss who loves them and whose son forgot to bring her any for Christmas.

I seem to remember Marna promising to add stuff to grubstreet after this pub crawl... although it sounds not to have been much of a crawl. We have a page for the George and also one for the Anchor, which I think is your “second pub”. Any chance of you posting your thoughts there? :)

I still want to see the George when I get back - that's the same one that has a plaque that Shakespeare drank there, yes?

As for Rocknerd, I guess we'll be living on pot noodle until I can work ;-)
