Got the nice flat in Walthamstow we wanted!

(So damn, blast and bugger with hot pokers the wastes of skin we dealt with on Saturday ...)

Currently negotiating move with owner (who is moving out over the next few days) with a view to getting in there on Saturday and/or Sunday.

So. I would like your tips on moving. Tell me all about moving a small but unwieldy quantity of stuff across Lahndahn.

(Not much stuff, but a few items - 6'×6'6" mattress, 28" telly, stand for telly - are annoyingly unwieldy. So it's probably van time. Also, I think my licence is valid here, but I have no experience of driving in London and consider this would not be the ideal opportunity to gain it.)

If there is a housewarming, it will be after Whitby.

Liz is quite aware of this, yes ;-)

Haven't made it to the British Museum yet. After moving and Whitby, we'll be seeing about the Art Deco exhibition at the V&A.

Here's a scary though.

I have driven in London! In fact, all the way through London (past a bomb threat), out the other side, via Birmingham and then on to Aberdeen.

It were a fucker of a drive, sort of Melbourne to Sydney via the old Hume... yanno, crappy little A roads and even crappier little B roads.

*sigh* Those were the days.

My fave. UK driving experience: driving this fsking humungous mid 80s Toyota mafia-chrome-mobile through the itsy bitsy lanes of Aberdeen... and finding out just why I needed a convenient little lever to retract the side mirrors - cuz otherwise, I would have scraped them off, there wasn't even that much clearance!
