My circadian rhythm does not fit the working world. I routinely get home from work feeling like a zombie, then get a burst of energy around midnight. This is not so good when I get up at seven. WTFFF?

The Birthday Party quotes are running dry. Who's next?

I've just been reading "How to be Idle", which is a very entertaining book. The author recommends an afternoon nap as a restorative.

Indeed, the author of the book is the editor of the Idler. He does practise what he preaches, although he massively overstates his case - but that's what makes it entertaining.

I voted for Elron, because he's good for a laugh.

Alternatively, Nick Cave, with the proviso of sticking to output from before he discovered the New Testament.

Rand. Hmm. For those with strong stomachs only, perhaps. Yes, it's amazing the crap that gets written when someone has a committed fanbase. Especially when the fans think it'll help them get rich.

Is there much unofficial scientologyology, or do the official ones have a lock on that sort of thing? I'd have thought there'd be enough money in it to ensure some compeititon.

I was horrified when MissyK8 asked for suggestions on professional female role models recently and someone suggested Ayn Rand. I, of course, suggested Zandra Rhodes :-)

Um, that is professional and alternative type role models - I didn't think of Vivienne Westwood at the time.

Re: energy levels; sounds like you're an Owl, like me. For more info than you will ever need about current scientific thinking on sleep, including some tips for those Owls who (unlike me) are forced to get up at 7 in the morning (er, more like midday for me, tee-hee, it sure sucks to be you), see:

Please, not The Best of L. Ron Hubbard! [Tempting as it may be to hear about the wacky adventures of Xenu and his pals. Normally, I'd feel bad (yes, even as an agnostic) about laughing at another's religion, but this is different...]

Completely understand the circadian rhythm thing. Sounds like you're a "night person", not a "morning person".

Woohoo, the 'Ron now in the lead with 10 :-)

How about quoting out of OT3+? That's got to be good for a laugh.

Careful about quoting L. - you might get sued, or die of pneumonia (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Xenu&diff=9318176&oldid=9295514) or something.

What, you die from pneumonia most weeks?

(yes, I know)

Re: Circadian Rhythms: You and me both. I slept twelve hours friday night, and ten hours saturday night, went to bed at a decent hour last night (ie 1 AM) and *still* couldn't drag my butt out of bed when I was supposed to this morning. And I get home zonked every night of the week. Don't do anything but work and sleep. I keep telling myself I'll eventually get used to it, but, uh, I don't. Driving me insane.

Tiredness

Give up caffeine. It's poisonous shit, fucks you up and does no good.

Worked for me. I'm not cured but I'm /WAAAAAY/ better. 2 early morning starts in Val d'Isère seemed to mandate tea &/or coffee but I felt vastly worse for it & immediately stopped again.

Try it. Go 2 weeks without. That's how little time it took me to notice the difference.

Maybe you're not leaving it long enough...

Hmm, interesting... I'm very much an evening person, find myself pretty knackered when I get home from work but then around 10 or 11 I'm wide awake and looking for something to keep me amused. It can be quite annoying at times, especially when calling [livejournal.com profile] _sugar_babe_ for a chat isn't an option.

*eyes freshly-made coffee suspiciously* Is this your fault? Grr!

In other news, hello Liam! I can't have been paying too much attention to RDD's friends list or I'd have spotted your username in there...

Ben! Hello! What a small world this is...

And yes, IME, it *is* caffeine. Giving up changed my life far more than quitting smoking, say.
