Home at last!
Sep. 5th, 2002 12:23 pmNow living the suburban high life in Hendon (NW4). Ten minutes' walk to the Tube, an hour's commute (door to desk) to work. Convenient to civilisation, i.e. Camden. No PC at home, hence no access to my usual email addresses, Usenet or IRC haunts for the time being.
Now to actually get my stuff shipped over from Australia ...
I need to buy a bed in fairly short order. Advice welcomed. I'm thinking queen-size futon in the first instance.

Date: 2002-09-05 09:15 am (UTC)At one point we had three beds in total - one double, two king size, and one of Jason's mates trying to give us *another* king size bed. We had a veritable plague of mattresses.

OTOH, I've joined LiveJournal, so it's not like I can claim to have any principles left.

Date: 2002-09-05 06:33 am (UTC)Our current futons which appear to be holding out quite well have come from a place local-ish to Cambridge who make some nice stuff. AFAIAA this is the place: http://www.futoncompany.co.uk/

Date: 2002-09-05 04:21 pm (UTC)Can't recall how much I paid for the last one I got in Camden, but it wasn't scary money. IIRC, the shop was on the opposite corner of the junction from the entrance to the stables market.
Your back will hate you for the first week.
some advice
Date: 2002-09-05 04:40 pm (UTC)advice:
Go look for the mattress first, then find a fitting frame. Otherwise only (maybe severe) backache will come out of it.
A decent futon mattress can be used without a frame for some time, just lying around on the floor, so no problem there.
q:
What's "queen"-sized in real measure? 140x200 cm?
